Deleting your account

Last updated: 15 August 2026

You do not need anyone's permission to delete your account, and you do not need to write to anyone. It is three steps inside the app and it happens immediately.

From the app

  1. Open History Lens and go to the Profile tab.
  2. Privacy and legalDelete account.
  3. Confirm with your password. If you signed in with Google there is no password to ask for; typing the confirmation word is enough.

This cannot be undone

There is no waiting period, no way to cancel it, and no backup it can be restored from.

What is deleted

What stays

If a photograph you sent was the first one of that object, it became the object's archive image and stays in the shared archive. The archive holds no record of who sent it, so there is no link to your account to delete.

If you want a particular image removed, write to privacy@history-lens.com and name the object. Requests of this kind are handled within 30 days.

If you cannot reach the app

If you have lost your phone or cannot install the app, write to privacy@history-lens.com from your account's email address and say that you want the account deleted. The request is verified by the fact that it comes from that address, and completed within 30 days.

If you never made an account

If you used the app without signing up, it knows you only by a random identifier it generated itself. Deleting the app discards that identifier, and with it any way — for you or for us — of reaching the records behind it.
