Terms of Use
Last updated: 15 August 2026
By using History Lens you accept these terms. The app is offered by Serdar Akın as an individual. Contact: privacy@history-lens.com.
1. What the app does
You send a photograph of a museum piece, a monument or a historic place; the app tries to recognise the object and then writes and narrates its story in the language you chose. The app is free and currently involves no payment or subscription.
2. Accounts
An account is not required; the app works without one. If you create an account, you confirm that the email address is yours and that you will keep your password safe. You are responsible for what happens under your account. You may delete it at any time.
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
3. The photographs you send
When you send a photograph, you confirm that:
- It is yours, or you otherwise have the right to send it.
- It does not show a person who has not agreed to it, and it was not taken somewhere photography is forbidden.
- It does not infringe anyone's copyright or other rights. Some museums and collections prohibit photography or its publication, and checking that is up to you.
If the object you send is new to the archive, your photograph becomes that object's archive image and becomes visible to everyone using the app. For that you grant a non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free licence to store the photograph and display it inside the app. The copyright stays yours. If you want an image taken down, write to privacy@history-lens.com.
4. The limits of AI narration
Both the recognition and the story are produced by an AI model. They can be wrong. The model can confuse one object with another, invent a date or a name, or leave things out. The app is a tool for exploring and enjoying; it is not an academic source, an expert opinion, or an official museum catalogue.
Do not rely on anything it says on its own for coursework, publication, a purchase or any similar decision. If you spot a mistake, we would be glad to hear about it.
5. What you agree not to do
- Reverse-engineer the service, overload it, or crawl it with automated tools.
- Create multiple accounts or fake device identifiers to get around the daily usage limits.
- Send unlawful or abusive content, or content that infringes someone else's rights.
- Bulk-download the archive and present it elsewhere as your own product.
An account that breaks these terms may be suspended or closed.
6. Interruptions and changes
The app is provided "as is". There is no promise that it will run without interruption, that it will recognise every object, or that it will be offered indefinitely. If the service has to stop, this page will say so far enough in advance for you to retrieve your data.
7. Liability
To the extent the applicable law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses arising from your use of the app. Your rights as a consumer that cannot be limited by contract are unaffected.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Türkiye. If you are a consumer, the protections of your own country's consumer law still apply and you may bring proceedings in the courts where you live.
9. Changes
If these terms change, the date on this page changes with them. For a significant change, the app tells you the next time you open it. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the new terms.
